Proboscis
Good morning, welcome back to the easy english everyday [e32you]

Let's continue our pro- series by going into a different aspect. This word should be familiar with most people, but I think reminding the meaning would be helpful.

-----------------------

Words:

Proboscis

Meaning: The nose of a mammal, especially when it is long and mobile such as the trunk of an elephant or the snout of a tapir.

Pronunciation: /prəˈbɒsɪs/

Note:
- early 17th century: via Latin from Greek proboskis 'means of obtaining food', from pro 'before' + boskein '(cause to) feed'.
- plural probosces /-siːz/, proboscides /-sɪdiːz/, or proboscises

Example:

All tapirs have a short, fleshy proboscis formed by the snout and upper lips.
